February 6, 2013 - by Emma Jane Schlageter

At this time of year, 4th grade is very busy preparing for the FCAT Florida Writes and going to FCAT Prep School on Wednesdays.  I'll tell you, we are working very hard.  We are learning all about decimals and reviewing fractions.  A big majority of the class has it down 100%!  Besides the big test coming up, our class is taking a field trip to St. Augustine in March.  The whole class is excited and cannot wait!  Miss Vola will have fun on the field trip because she is excited too.  You can share the fun on March 1st - see you there!

'Twas the day of Friday, and everyone came to see the great Christmas play that Miss Elliott made.  Some of Mr. P's class gets credit, as does Miss Henley's, but don't forget Miss Vola's class and Mrs. Ledger's.  Miss Vola came to watch the play and even from my view of her from on the stage, it looked like she loved every part!

The play was a blast and everyone had a great time singing and acting.  I admit, it was cool!  Another cool party for us was:

'Twas the week before the Christmas play and we were making big cool Christmas paper bags that Miss Sue gave us to decorate that she will give to the people at the facility where Hydee and Jingles are therapy dogs.  Each bag had a name on it and we decorated each one with paint, glitter glue, glitter, cotton balls and a bunch of other cool stuff!  We had a blast the last two weeks and I want to thank Miss Vola and Miss Elliott, 'twas a MERRY WEEK!!!!

Deep Creek Preserve Field Trip

Deep Creek Preserve (by Emma Jane)
The recent field trip was a blast!  Miss Vola's 4th and 5th grades went to the Deep Creek Preserve.  We had so much fun and learned a bunch in one day.  Mrs. Cary got out soil augers and we dug with them.  Then we got to paint with different soils.  When the kids were done painting, we got on the ecobuggy and drove around the Preserve.  Miss Ivy told us about the animal wildlife and a bunch of ecosystem facts.  Mr. Weaver drove the ecobuggy and told us fun information too.  Once again, all the kids had a blast on our awesome field trip!

Welcome Back!

The 2010-2011 school year has gotten off to a fast start! We are diving into writing, science, social studies, math, reading and language arts. So far, we've made goop, hosted Mr. Espy for writing and had a wonderful special person's day. We got to play Face the Cookie and are looking forward to an afternoon of fun at the SNPJ Lodge on September 25. Stay tuned for the continuing adventures of Fourth Grade!
